Backstory

Andy was born in North Carolina not too many miles from Fort Bragg. Andy grew up as most children do wanting to be a soldier, Andy, however never grew out of it. This was probably just as well as he didn't excel at his academic studies, but he preferred football and soccer. When he finished high school he joined the Third infantry.

He excelled during basic training, and quickly proved himself a capable shot scoring the top mark in his squad.he turned down specialist training claiming that he wanted to remain with his squad.

His first tour after Basic was In operation FREEDOM, his squad was one of the first on the ground in Iraq. When not in fierce fighting he spent his time attempting in increase operation with the locals by holding football matched with the locals. On his first tour one member of his squad was killed, only a day before returning home. The funeral was held shortly after the return and Andy attended.

After the compulsory leave, his unit returned to a war. This time the war was in Afghanistan, during this tour he endured harsher weather, rough landscapes, lack of supplies, and a well trained local resistance movement. The locals were a lot less trusting the during his previous tour. He didn't find any respite during this hard campaign. He lost two squad members, including his medic, in the first fortnight due to ambushes. He blamed himself for their death though in truth there was little he could have done to stop them deaths. After a month or so he began to understand the tactics of his opponents and was soon able to spot where and when they were likely to attack, this combined with his uncanny ability to know when danger was about meant that many of his squad survived when they shouldn't. The replacement Medic did a miraculous job, and with only two casualties during his tour, he was promoted from Corporal to Sergent.

After a sort holiday After this tour the squad rejoined and were sent back into Iraq, with the new medic, and back in a country he knew Andy was enjoying his return, until he started to suffer the odd moment of "Reality Failure", he put this down in part to the cocktail of drugs given to him before the first tour, several of the people he knew we suffering from Gulf war syndrome. When he asked his medic he said he could see nothing wrong. Then came the talking Humvee, whilst on patrol the car insisted that it wanted to go faster, repeating faster faster, etc. Then suddenly the Humvee came under fire, all the troops were fine and no one was killed nut Andy was more than a little shaken. Then about a fortnight later, whilst on patrol he herd sounds coming from things that weren't there. After this he again went to see the medic who again told him he was fine. The final straw came when on a patrol he ended up pointing his M-16 at a fellow squad member, however this time when he went to see the medic, the medic looked a little perplexed and put Andy on medical leave. On his fight home Andy had another weird experience of the presence of a eagle asking why the plane should be allowed entry, a shrill digital answer replied, and the aircraft was allowed through.

In landing a further medical ensued and Andy was place on indefinite medical leave, due to suspected post traumatic stress. He took this opportunity to explore the dreams he was having which pointed him in the direction of Denver. after the long drive, only stopping for food and sleep his car came out with a classic "Why should I help you?", followed by a sharp crunch as the drive shaft fell off. After a bit of a wait , a person stopped to help, who opened the bonnet and had words with the car, he seamed to be able to glean information shat he should have been able to, and commenting "has the car always been this cantankerous?". The gut then asked a few odd questions and started to induct him into the local Iron Masters pack, and did not grow accustomed to the city, always having been a bit of a country lad, however he quickly found his place in pack, proving rather handy at scaring off local nere-do-wells. However it was suggested that he take his leave when Roman's offer came through.
