History: Teaching has been in the blood of the Vaile family for generations. Beatrice, a brilliant scientist and academic in her own right, took over as headmistress of the Adcotte Academy, the family's private school, in 1985 upon the death of her father. The academy continued to prosper under her stewardship until her death in 2006 at the early age of 51.

History: Evelyn Vaile, the youngest of two sisters, never had much interest in teaching preferring instead a career in the sciences. A noted and highly regarded geneticist and biochemist at Cambridge, Professor Vaile nonetheless set aside her career and took over as headmistress of the Adcotte Academy upon the tragic death of her older sibling in late 2006. So far all agree she has been doing a superb job, and the academy continues to prosper as it maintains its reputation for scholarly excellence.
